AI didn’t get smarter.
AI didn’t get smarter: GPT-3 has gained a lot of online attention in the past couple of weeks. GPT-3 is short for Generative Pretrained Transformer 3, that – in short – produces text. It is a commercial offering from OpenAI, a company to drive forward peacefully usage of artificial intelligence. Among others, Elon Musk is one of the founders. However, the company and it’s founder parted ways, citing “a potential future conflict (of interest)“.
Liam Porr, an AI developer, published an article in which he describes how he ran a successful blog with that GPT-3 technology. Key takeaway:
I would write the title and introduction, add a photo, and let GPT-3 do the rest. The blog has had over 26 thousand visitors, and we now have about 60 loyal subscribers…
from the blog.
And only ONE PERSON has noticed it was written by GPT-3.The first post even made it to #1 on HackerNews. The article reads pretty natural, but fails to make a solid argument. Content-wise, I’d take this as indication that not AI got smarter, but humans got dumber. The particular article from above could’ve been written by a random hipster working in content marketing.
The GPT-3 Blog article.

Working in Agile Mode
“We are not working in this a ‘Agile‘-mode that you’re working in.” she said. She actually tried to disparage the lack of structure in the other team she has been assigned to work with. The team this lady belongs to consider themselves a marketing team. In a high-tech company. Marketing, but still: for technology.
After the assignment to the new team, this lady actually tried to mock the lack or absence of procedures in the new team. Her comment meant to refer to any processes but literally trying to differentiate herself.
The team she is working with initially tracks their tasks of deliverables in a so-called Kanban board. The same team conducts daily standup meetings, that are facilitated by a process owner. About once every other week there are so-called review meetings with the team manager and external stakeholders.
All of these are fragments from agile methods.
Of course, it is conjecture. At the same time, this pattern that can be observed in many places. People try to differentiate themselves from the working class, the programmers, the technical guys. While in reality, all colleagues contribute to the same product.
So ultimately, the differentiation between being technical and the business ends up being more hurtful to the companies culture. Not to mention the effects of digitalization, that is based on the assumption that technology will improve everybody’s life. Assuming more technical acumen, even as a business person, will make you a better, more efficient person. Being technical is independent of working in agile mode.

Ana Nass

Sloth Hug
All the colleagues fancy Snap Chat and Snap Camera as of recently. I fancy the particular Sloth Hug Lens on this very Tuesday.

A story of coming home
A story of coming home: Danke, Deutsche Bahn, für diesen konstant hohen Service. Natürlich kann ich mir die Frage stellen, warum das immer nur dann passiert, wenn ich Heim möchte. Aber nie, wenn ich weg möchte. Es könnte ein Hinweis des Universums und nicht der Deutschen Bahn sein.
