The time “in between years” is busy, every time. Not to take this as an excuse, but an opportunity to rather dump my notes from #39C3 into here. It’s more than I typically blog on a average year.

- The one lesson learned on day 1 really is that it’s really advisable to arrive a day early.
- Day 2 was a lot better
- Protecting the network data of one billion people: Breaking network crypto in popular Chinese mobile apps was not recorded and dealt with software in Chinese android app stores. Apparently, ~50% of apps in stores there roll their own crypto.

- Greenhouse Gas Emission Data: Public, difficult to access, and not always correct
- Data about greenhouse gas emissions, both from countries and individual factories, is often publicly available. However, the data sources are often not as accessible and reliable as they should be. EU emission databases contain obvious flaws, and nobody wants to be responsible.
- Hanno Böck did some research on climate gas emission reporting and identified issues with large plants and the data available through
- Celestial navigation with very little math
- Learn how to find your position using a sextant and a custom slide rule, almost no math required!
- Trammell Hudson spent a lot of time on sea, giving him the time to think about the deep questions, like „Where are we?“
