CloudFlare extends it’s presence in China through partnering with JD Cloud & AI. The company is currently present in 17 datacenters in mainland China. Cloudflare maintains a partnership with Baidu, through that recently announced partnership the Cloud vendor can leverage 150 more datacenters and therefore vastly extend it’s footprint in the region.

Safari in iOS sends data to Tencent
Engadget reports, that with iOS 13 Apple started checking website details against fraudulent behavior with Tencent. While Apple already uses “Google Safe Browsing” to improve security, this behavior has been difficult before. With the latest developments in Hong Kong and China, this approach is – at a minimum – questionable and overshadows trustworthiness of Apple hardware. Engadget comments accordingly:

Analysis of the GitHub DDoS.
NETRESEC took a closer look at the long lasting DDoS attacks on github.com. One of the few instances of this type of attack that even made it to mainstream media.
The article finds random web browsers from outside China are tricked into reloading two particular pages on github.com. Apparently, this happens by manipulating requests coming from users physically outside China to services in country hosted content at the border infrastructure.This is another example of why encryption is a good thing. General usage of SSL/TLS will prevent passive filtering infrastructure from manipulating traffic, and prevent such problems.
